About Mooney Pros, Inc.
Mooney Pros, Inc. is a Mooney-specific flight training company based in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Mike Elliott founded it in 2017, when Mooney International asked him to build a factory transition program for its Ultra models. That factory program ended when Mooney stopped producing airplanes. Today our six Mooney-specific instructors train owners of every Mooney model, from the M20A to the M20V, across the U.S. We’ve also trained pilots in Canada and Australia.
How we started
When Mooney International introduced the Ultra models, it wanted factory transition training for new owners. Mooney asked Mike Elliott, a Master CFI and FAASTeam Lead Representative, to put the program together. Instructors were vetted before joining, and the training followed FITS principles: scenario-based, decision-focused, and built around the airplane the owner actually flies. Mooney Pros, Inc. grew out of that work.
When Mooney stopped producing airplanes, the factory program ended. Mooney Pros carried on as an independent Mooney training company, using the same FITS-based approach to train owners of every Mooney model.
Training beyond the U.S.
Mooney pilots outside the U.S. have trusted us too. Mike traveled to Bathurst, New South Wales, in 2019 to train pilots for the Australian Mooney Pilots Association, and he helped develop the association’s training manual. Mooney Pros instructors have also trained in Canada, including Saskatchewan in 2026.

FAASTeam Industry Member
In June 2025, Mooney Pros signed a Letter of Understanding with the National FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) and became a FAASTeam Industry Member. We work with the FAASTeam to promote safety education and the WINGS Pilot Proficiency Program, and our transition training and IPCs are set up as WINGS activities. Mike Elliott is a FAASTeam Lead Representative. Mooney Pros is a FAASTeam Industry Member; neither the FAA nor the FAASTeam endorses any entity.
Mooney Summit and the Bill Gilliland Foundation
Mike co-founded the Mooney Summit with Ron Dubin in 2014 to “better the breed” of Mooney pilots. It’s a Mooney safety and education event run by Mooney Summit, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charity. The Summit raises money for the Bill Gilliland Foundation, which helps the families of downed Mooney pilots with crisis intervention and financial assistance when they need it most. Mooney Pros is a proud supporter.
